Welcome to the 2018 LPNY petitioning portal! Here, you can find all the resources and updates for our 2018 petitioning drive. Our goal is to collect over 30,000 petition signatures for our statewide candidates and you can help us!
Please use the following petitions to gather signatures for our candidates. We need your help to get our candidates on the ballot, and provide a choice for voters on Election Day (November 6).
Use these resources on the right of this page to help you petition and also print out copies of the petition sheets (see below). If you want to help collect signatures and you have any questions, or you want to report an incident you experienced while petitioning, use the form at the bottom of this page and we will get back to you.
Please read “2018 LPNY Guide For Petitioners.” It contains all information on petitioning, including tips to help you be more successful. You can even download and/or print it.
Use the buttons below to download and/or print the PDF of the petition sheets.

Links to Download Petition Sheets
Use the links below to find out which petition to download. For most of the state, use the Statewide petition (button: “Download / Print Statewide Petition”). If you are petitioning in a district in which we have a State Assembly or State Senate candidate, you can also petition for for them as well and you can download the associated petition sheet that includes their name. If they are a cross-county candidates, their name as well as the name of our four statewide candidates appear on the same petition and you can collect signatures for all of them. Also listed are maps of the Senate or Assembly District that online the district. Only people who live within the Assembly District can sign to get that candidate for that district on the ballot. So, if they live outside the district, just use the statewide petition. If you are not petitioning in or near these Assembly Districts, just use the statewide petition.
Note: If you are unable to print sheets and would like us to mail blank copies to you, contact us with the form below.
Use the statewide petition for the four statewide candidates. If you are petitioning in an area with no State Senate or Assembly candidate, use this petition, which includes our statewide candidates: Larry Sharpe for Governor, Andrew Hollister for Lt. Governor, Chris Garvey for Attorney General, and Cruger Gallaudet for Comptroller.
Cross-County Candidates: Statewide Petition + Senate / Assembly Districts
If you live in a district where we are running a candidate for State Senate or State Assembly, you can also help us get that candidate on the ballot in addition to the statewide candidates. Use the map to view the borders of the districts. These petitions include our 4 statewide candidate as well as the Assembly or Senate candidate.

general information on petitioning
- Petitioning Period. Only collect signatures during the petitioning period. For statewide offices, it is July 10 – August 21, 2018. Try to get the petition sheets to your regional coordinator or directly to the Petition Collector (see below) on a weekly basis, so we can prepare the petitions for turn-in. Please note the address below for sending us your petition sheets.
- Who can sign/witness? Anyone can sign or circulate (witness) our petition, in any district, who is a registered voter of New York State. However, you cannot both sign and witness the same petition. Have a friend witness the petition that you sign. In most cases, you will want a signer to fill in their address and print their name, but all a signer has to do is sign, and you can fill out the rest. If you make any corrections, initial the change.
- Which address do I use? You and those who sign the petitions need to use the address in which they are registered to vote. You can find out where you are registered to vote, and which districts you live in, by using the NYS Voter Registration Search. Please note the RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS, TOWN and COUNTY where you are registered to vote. You will need to fill these in for the Witness Statement at the bottom of your petition sheet. You fill this part out after each sheet is full of signatures. If you put your village, hamlet, or postal address instead of your town, the entire sheet will be invalid under New York’s arcane petitioning rules. Check to be sure!
Where do I send my completed petition sheets?
Before submitting petition sheets to the Collector, please complete and sign the witness statement at the bottom of hte sheet.
Send your completed petition sheets to the Petition Collector, Fred Cole, at the following address:
1017 Roberta Rd.
Schenectady, NY 12303
The state is broken into eleven regions, each with a director. You can contact your regional director for assistance. Regional Directors can coordinate petitioning events (for petitioning in groups) and workshops as well as collect petitions in their regions, so they can send them to the Petition Collector. You can also send petitions directly to the Petition Collector (as mentioned above).
